24-Year-Old Soldier Killed at Combat Post from Voskekwaz Community in Aragatsotn: Details

Karen Karapetyan, a contract serviceman killed at one of the combat posts of the RA Ministry of Defense's N military unit, was from the Voskekwaz village in the Aragatsotn region. Yervand Hambardzumyan, the administrative leader of Voskekwaz, told Sputnik Armenia that Karen had turned 24 on December 28, and he was unmarried.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense reported that his body was found at the combat post with a gunshot wound. Media reports indicated that the incident occurred at one of the combat posts in the Gegharkunik region of Armenia. It was noted that the soldier was shot by a conscript stationed at the same post.

According to Yervand Hambardzumyan, Karen was a very reserved, balanced, and calm person. “He was a very good young man, kind, friendly, and endowed with good qualities. I do not think he could have provoked a fight; he was not that kind of person. Before joining the contract service, he studied at the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, where he graduated. After that, he participated in courses at the Vazgen Sargsyan Military University, received the rank of lieutenant, and was then drafted. He had already been serving for six months,” said the administrative leader of Voskekwaz.

Karen Karapetyan was the eldest son in his family; he had a younger brother who is married.

It should be noted that the Ministry of Defense previously reported that today, around 6:20 AM, the body of contract serviceman Karen Arayik Karapetyan was found at the N combat post of the N military unit, with a gunshot wound. An investigation is underway to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
