Former Azerbaijani Defense Deputy Minister Accused of Embezzlement
The late general and former Deputy Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, Fuad Mammadov, is accused of embezzling 15 million manats (approximately 9 million dollars). This was reported by РИА Новости, citing the Baku military court.
The trial concerning the criminal case against former Deputy Minister of Defense, former head of the Material and Technical Supply Department, and late General-Lieutenant Fuad Mammadov has commenced on charges of particularly large-scale embezzlement of public funds. According to the indictment announced by the prosecutor, General Mammadov, in collusion with two officials, misappropriated state funds amounting to nearly 15 million manats. Fuad Mammadov's son has been recognized as the legal successor in this case,” the media reports.
General Fuad Mammadov passed away from heart failure in 2020.
