US Comments on Explosions in Iran

The United States has no connection to the explosions that occurred in Iran and sees no reason to claim that Israel is involved, stated Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the US State Department.

“We are closely monitoring the reports coming out of Iran, and we do not have any independent information. We express our condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims of these horrific explosions,” he said.

Miller added, “It’s still early for us to say what caused the incident, but I would like to respond to some irresponsible accusations that I’ve seen circulating and state that the US has no involvement whatsoever. Such claims are laughable. We have no basis to assume that Israel is involved in this either.”

It is worth noting that yesterday explosions erupted in Iran, resulting in numerous casualties and injuries. Several blasts occurred at the Kerman cemetery during a memorial ceremony for Qasem Soleimani, who was killed on January 3, 2020, in a US airstrike near Baghdad airport. The Tasnim agency reports that two bomb-laden packages capable of remote detonation were found near the entrance of the cemetery.
