Russia Plans to Buy Ballistic Missiles from Iran

Russia is planning to purchase short-range ballistic missiles from Iran. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing American officials.

This move would expand Moscow's capability to strike Ukrainian infrastructure at a critical time in the ongoing conflict. Russia's plans have raised deep concerns within the Biden administration. The concerns have emerged amid waning support in Congress for continued military assistance to Ukraine. Lawmakers have yet to pass a bill that would provide additional funding for Ukraine.

“The United States is concerned that Russian negotiations to acquire short-range ballistic missiles from Iran are progressing,” stated an American official. The supply of Iranian missiles could occur as soon as this spring if the deal is finalized. Officials noted that Russia has already begun receiving launch pads and several dozen ballistic missiles from North Korea as well.
