Does the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant Pollute the Araks River? Iranian Foreign Minister Clarifies

The Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has denied reports that Armenia's Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant is contaminating the border Araks River with radioactive materials. He made this statement during a session of Iran's Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission.

He noted that the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization has refuted any claims of pollution in the Araks River resulting from the operation of the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant.

It should be mentioned that back in 2022, Azerbaijani media reported that the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant was dumping 12,000 to 16,000 cubic meters of radioactive waste into the Araks River daily.
