13-Year-Old American Gamer Becomes the First Person to Win Tetris
13-year-old American student Willis Gibson has made history as the first person to reach the winning level in the 1988 Nintendo Tetris game. According to the Daily Mail, such a feat could previously only be achieved by artificial intelligence.
Gibson, known by his gaming alias "Blue Scuti," was able to essentially "break" Tetris in 38 minutes as blocks began to fall at an increasing speed, causing the game to freeze, which signifies victory in this version.
The Daily Mail reports that Gibson began playing Tetris at the age of 11, practicing daily for 3 to 5 hours. The teenager mentioned that he entered a Tetris tournament just to play against interesting competitors, and he did not expect to achieve such a result.
Willis dedicated his record to his father, who passed away in October 2023. Previously, gamers considered the toughest transition in this game to be from level 29 to 30; Gibson reached level 157.
