VIDEO: The Citizen is Not Material for Fines, Says Pashinyan
During today’s government meeting, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the phrase "the citizen is not material for fines," stating that in the past, fines of up to 500,000 drams set a precedent. Citizens were told they could drive at speeds of 200-300 km/h, pay the fine, and continue driving in the same manner.
"This means that such a policy encouraged citizens to believe that as long as they could afford it, they could violate traffic rules without any problems," he noted.
Pashinyan emphasized that such violations are not encouraged. "Thus, we acknowledge that the citizen is not material for fines; we do not encourage their violations, but if they continue to break the rules, we will tell them that they should not drive on the roads of Armenia," said the Prime Minister.
