“This Cannot Fail to Cause Us Concern”: Lavrov on Armenia-NATO Cooperation
This year, Armenia has participated in several dozen events with NATO. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with TASS.
“Recently, Yerevan has been developing cooperation with NATO and its individual member countries. This year, Armenia has participated in several dozen events with NATO. The country continues modernizing its armed forces according to NATO standards, and its military personnel are being trained in several NATO member states. This cannot fail to cause us concern,” Lavrov stated in a year-end interview with TASS. According to him, “this cannot fail to cause us concern.”
“We have repeatedly drawn the attention of our Armenian partners to the fact that NATO’s real aim is to strengthen its positions in the region and create conditions for manipulations under the ‘divide and conquer’ scheme. I hope that in Yerevan they realize that deepening cooperation with the alliance leads to the loss of sovereignty in national defense and security,” he said.
