Location of Alexei Navalny Revealed
According to the Russian service of "Freedom," it has been revealed today where Alexei Navalny, the leader of the opposition in Russia who went missing from a correctional facility in the Vladimir region, is being held.
His spokesperson, Kira Yarmish, reported that the opposition prisoner is located in a high-security colony situated in the village of Kharp in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region. For 20 days, there had been no information about Navalny. Yarmish stated that a lawyer visited Navalny and conveyed that "he is in normal condition."
The village of Kharp is located 60 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, and it is currently experiencing polar night. Administratively, it falls under the village of Labitnanga in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region. The railway passing through Vorkuta connects it to Moscow.
The village also has two other high-security colonies. Navalny is in the third colony. Previously, it housed Yukos co-owner Platon Lebedev and Ukrainian filmmaker and activist Oleg Sentsov.
The name of the third colony in the village is "Polar Owl" ("Полярная сова"). It houses prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment.
