Floods Hit Germany on Christmas Day

Floods Hit Germany on Christmas Day

On Christmas Day, heavy rains fell in Germany, causing water levels in rivers to rise to the point where the Ruhr and Elbe rivers overflowed their banks. This has been reported by Lenta.ru.

In the village of Windhausen in Thuringia, residents were evacuated as the sewage system ceased to function. The village has been left without power due to the flooding. Residents of North Rhine-Westphalia also faced serious issues as a result of the flooding.

Storms are forecasted in Saxony, and a major landslide has occurred in Hamburg. Some federal states have already declared a third and fourth level of danger.
