Aluminum to Be Added to Waste Sorting List
In the framework of waste recycling processes in Yerevan, 30-35 tons of glass, 30 tons of plastic, and 580 tons of cardboard have been handed over for recycling. "A 36,000 linear meter irrigation system has been installed. This is an unprecedented figure. Two new Volvo vehicles have been acquired for waste sorting, along with three auto platforms that provide heights of 32 and 22 meters," said Armen Begoyan, director of the Urban Greening and Environmental Protection Non-Profit.
Yerevan has also been recognized as a winner in the Yerevan-Warsaw-Tirana program, receiving an additional grant of one million euros from the EU. Under this grant, the city will receive 1,000 new waste bins intended for waste sorting. In 2024, aluminum will also be added to the waste sorting list. The current 100-120 waste sorting centers will be expanded to 300.
