Recent Developments in Gaza
Israeli air forces have struck targets in Gaza City and other areas of the central Palestinian enclave, including Deir al-Balah. This is reported by the Israeli news portal Walla, as relayed by TASS.
Al-Jazeera reports that dozens of people have died as a result of Israeli strikes on the Jabalia refugee camp in the Gaza Strip. According to the channel's statement, "Dozens of people were killed due to Israeli missile and artillery strikes on residential buildings in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza." It is reported that the nighttime assault has prevented rescuers and medical personnel from reaching the devastated neighborhoods.
The situation in the Middle East escalated sharply following the incursion of Palestinian militant group Hamas from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7. This was accompanied by the killing of residents in border communities and the abduction of more than 200 hostages, including children, women, and the elderly. Hamas claims the attack was a response to Israeli actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
Israel has announced a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip and has initiated military operations in the area. In response to the rocket fire, separate strikes have also been carried out in border regions of Lebanon and Syria.
