Turkey Deploys Armored Vehicles to Northern Syria

The Turkish Armed Forces began transporting armored vehicles to northern Syria on December 22. According to Ermenhaber, the vehicles being moved from various cities in Turkey are heading towards the Idlib province of Syria, originating from the Islahiyah district in Gaziantep.

It has been reported that the military convoy will enter Syria through the Cilvegözü border checkpoint in the Hatay province located in southern Turkey, and will then be deployed in military areas in Idlib.

Several Turkish media outlets claim that the accumulation of additional forces is related to the likelihood of new military operations against the Kurdish forces in Syria, which are considered terrorist by Ankara. Some sources had reported a few days ago that Turkish tanks had entered the Azaz region, controlled by Syrian opposition groups supported by Ankara, where clashes had occurred with representatives of the terrorist organization 'Hayat Tahrir al-Sham'.

It is worth noting that in recent years, the Turkish Armed Forces and the Syrian opposition groups they support have conducted several major military operations ('Operation Olive Branch', 'Operation Peace Spring', 'Operation Euphrates Shield') in northern Syria, resulting in numerous areas being cleared from Kurdish militants' control and effectively under the occupation of Turkish forces.
