Zakharova Calls European Officials Magicians
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, has referred to European officials as magicians after Armenia and Azerbaijan found themselves on a list of third countries that supported the so-called "Magnitsky European Act."
“We have seen some modifications to the text of the EU's announcement regarding the joining of a number of third countries. According to that, they support the EU's so-called human rights sanctions. In the initial version, Armenia and Azerbaijan appeared, then they miraculously disappeared. Of course, this issue should be addressed to the Brussels magicians. It’s some kind of magic, a manipulation of document versions,” Zakharova stated.
She believes that all of Brussels' efforts to give the appearance of compliance with international legal norms regarding its anti-Russian sanctions by involving third countries are nothing more than empty and unconstructive measures undertaken in gross violation of the norms of international law.
Zakharova views the incident of Armenia and Azerbaijan appearing and then disappearing as a vivid example of Brussels' neo-colonial mindset. The Foreign Ministry representative has also accused the EU of interfering in Armenia and Azerbaijan's relationships. According to Zakharova, the EU's goals and objectives are not related to conflict resolution or normalization of relations; rather, it is merely a desire to capture yet another anti-Russian summit, so to speak, to strengthen its anti-Russian positions and to interfere with the positives developed through Russian mediation.
“By trying to force neighbors to follow the sanctions against Russia, the EU resorts to everything possible, including outright deceit. This is not a coincidence or a typo; it is blatant fraud. This should be a lesson for everyone on how to be vigilant regarding the duality of NATO and the EU,” she added.
