Why Azerbaijan Doesn't Seem to Be in Favor of the Peace Agreement: Khachatryan Comments
Azerbaijan does not seem to be in favor of the peace agreement. This opinion was expressed by the ruling party MP, Armen Khachatryan, during a press briefing with journalists.
Khachatryan stated, “Azerbaijan is in a negative mindset, perhaps they find the peace treaty unfavorable because they understand that it could lead to a rapid economic rise for Armenia, providing serious prospects for the country's development, and allowing for the unblocking of transport routes. They analyze all this very well and draw their conclusions. They are not excited about the prospect of Armenia moving in that direction.”
According to the MP, Azerbaijan is doing everything to avoid signing a peace treaty. “Azerbaijan is now doing everything to ensure that if a document is signed, it resembles something like what was signed on November 9, which would allow for all points to be violated later. We will not allow that,” Khachatryan emphasized.
He noted that the international pressure on Azerbaijan is significant and that the country needs to be brought into a constructive framework.
