Films and Series for NETFLIX to be Shot in Armenia

“Recent changes in the film law make Armenia an attractive location for film production.” This was stated by Sisak Gabrielyan, a member of the National Assembly and representative of the ruling party, on his Facebook page. He also announced that a memorandum of cooperation was signed with the representative of renowned German actor and film producer Til Schweiger at the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports.

Three films, “Underdog,” “Dead by Dawn,” and “Collapse” (an 8-part film for NETFLIX), will be filmed in Armenia, with production set to begin at the start of the year. “This will be the actual first application of the new law,” the MP noted in his message, adding that according to the law, if the established norms are adhered to, the state will return 10-40 percent of the invested amount to film producers.

In the coming days, the Ministry will publish the relevant goods, services, and their usage regulations and conditions.

“According to experts, our country is quite suitable for film production in terms of locations. Almost at any time of the year, you can find snow-capped mountains, melting asphalt from the heat, beautiful modern buildings, streets, as well as abandoned and uninhabited villages and factories,” the MP emphasized.
