A criminal case has been initiated following the fire incident that occurred at one of the shops on Tigran Mets Street in Yerevan yesterday. This was reported by Gor Abrahamyan, spokesperson for the Investigative Committee.

On December 19, 2023, around 14:00, a fire broke out in a shop located at number 36 on Tigran Mets Street, prompting the Yerevan Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee to start criminal proceedings based on part 21 of Article 357 of the Armenian Criminal Code.

As a result of the fire, a citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran, J. I., was hospitalized with burns on the head, neck, and both upper and lower limbs at the National Burns Center. Approximately 50 square meters of the shop was burned, according to preliminary data.

Within the framework of the pre-investigation, an examination of the scene was conducted, and forensic medical, as well as forensic fire-technical and forensic commodity studies, were appointed. The individual taken to the hospital has been recognized as a victim, and according to information received from the medical facility, their health condition is stable.

Investigative and procedural actions are ongoing to determine the causes of the fire and other related circumstances.
