A Bloodied Scene at the Checkpoint: Investigative Committee Provides Details on Police Officer's Suicide
At 09:25 today, the Yerevan investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia heard the sound of a gunshot. Following this, employees noticed that a police officer serving in the investigative department was found in a bloodied condition at the assigned checkpoint. This information was provided by the Investigative Committee.
The officer was diagnosed with a "gunshot wound to the head" and was transferred to a medical facility.
It was revealed that police officer V.M. from the Main Department of State Protection of the Police had been on duty in the investigative department of the Yerevan investigative office since 09:00 today. Around 09:20, he attempted suicide by shooting himself with an assigned "Makarov" type pistol at the checkpoint located within the investigative department.
A criminal case has been initiated, and an investigation is underway. During an examination at the crime scene—the police officer's assigned checkpoint—one 9mm caliber cartridge, one loaded "Makarov" type pistol with seven bullets, and blood traces were discovered and seized.
The victim's clothing, which he was wearing at the time of the incident, has been confiscated from the medical center. Forensic medical examinations, forensic ballistic examinations, and forensic trace examinations have been appointed, and instructions have been given to the police for operational-investigative measures. Several witnesses have been interrogated.
The investigation is ongoing.
