Two simultaneous fatal traffic accidents in Yerevan: Investigative Committee provides details

The spokesperson of the Armenian Investigative Committee, Gor Abrahamyan, wrote on Facebook: "Two simultaneous fatal traffic accidents occurred in Yerevan. Criminal proceedings have been initiated.

On December 5, 2023, around 6:15 PM, two fatal traffic accidents occurred almost simultaneously in the city of Yerevan. In front of the address 20/4 Mashtots Avenue, a 28-year-old resident of Yerevan driving a Porsche struck pedestrians, two female relatives aged 38 and 59 and a 4-year-old child from the Artik community of Shirak Province.

As a result of the incident, the 38-year-old woman died on the spot, while the other two were taken to medical centers.

Regarding this case, on December 5, 2023, a criminal proceeding was initiated under part 2 of Article 342 of the Armenian Criminal Code in the Traffic Police Investigation Department of the Yerevan Investigative Administration, and an investigation is underway.

The scene has been examined, and the contents of the surveillance cameras available in the area have been seized.

Almost at the same moment, another traffic accident occurred near 2/3 Safaryan Street in Yerevan. A garbage truck marked 'KamAZ' driven by a resident of Kotayk Province struck an unidentified approximately 60-year-old female pedestrian, who died on the spot from her injuries.

A criminal case has also been initiated regarding this incident under part 2 of Article 342 of the Armenian Criminal Code. An investigation is ongoing, and circumstances are being clarified.

The two women who died in the traffic accidents, as well as the woman and child injured in the first incident, have been recognized as victims. Forensic and medical examinations of the bodies have been ordered.
