Will Pashinyan Participate in EAEU and CIS Events? - 'Hraparak'
The newspaper 'Hraparak' reports: Sources from the ruling Civil Contract party assure that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will participate in the meeting of the EAEU Economic Council and the CIS Leaders' Council, scheduled for December 25 and 26 in St. Petersburg. It is known that for a long time, official Yerevan has been publicly boycotting Russian platforms, as neither the Armenian Foreign Minister, nor the Secretary of the Security Council, nor the Speaker of the National Assembly, let alone the Prime Minister himself, have participated in political gatherings held under Russia's auspices. They have decided to maintain only economic participation and connections.
However, during a political gathering of the party held in Gyumri on Saturday, both Pashinyan and Ararat Mirzoyan expressed dissatisfaction that the West is not adequately recognizing their efforts, thus indicating that it is time to shift to a softer policy with Russia. This implicitly signaled his participation in the upcoming events.
Earlier, Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian President, stated that they had received a signal from Armenia that Nikol Pashinyan would participate in the traditional informal meeting of the leaders of the CIS countries as well as the official meeting of the Eurasian Economic Union in St. Petersburg.
