Floods in Southern India Claim 10 Lives

At least 10 people have died in floods in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Indian Express reported this on December 19. The floods have been caused by heavy rainfall that has been ongoing since December 17.

Nearly 7,000 people have been relocated to temporary shelters, and the government has prepared 85,000 food packages for those affected.

The flooding has led to disruptions in transportation. Around 800 passengers on a train were stranded on the tracks and had to remain on the train due to an impassable route. A pregnant woman aboard a plane was evacuated by helicopter.
