Expected Indian Akash Defense System Supplies to Begin in Armenia in a Few Months
Expected Indian Akash defense system supplies to Armenia will commence in a few months, as reported by Indian media ANI, citing a source from the country's Ministry of Defense.
"It is anticipated that deliveries to Armenia will begin in a few months. At the same time, many countries, including Brazil, Egypt, and the Philippines, have shown interest in the Akash missile system," the source told Indian media.
Previously, the EurAsianTimes portal reported that Armenia may purchase Akash short-range air defense systems from India to protect vulnerable areas and points from aerial attacks. The system can simultaneously engage multiple targets in grouped or autonomous modes. It features built-in electronic counter-countermeasures (ECCM) capabilities.
The entire system is deployed on mobile platforms. It can effectively target helicopters, fighter jets, and unmanned aerial vehicles flying within a range of 4 to 25 kilometers. The system is fully automated and quickly detects and destroys targets. It possesses high resilience to both active and passive interferences and can be rapidly transported and deployed.
With the capacity to engage multiple targets and destroy maneuvering threats such as UAVs, cruise missiles, and missiles launched from helicopters, the Akash system perfectly meets Yerevan's needs to counter Baku's combat UAVs.
