What is the West's Goal: Lavrov Explains

The West understands that it cannot destroy Russia as an independent entity on the world stage, but they do not speak openly about this for fear of losing their rating on the eve of elections. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

According to him, Moscow previously hoped that the West would approach relations with Russia from a pragmatic standpoint, which was effective in the energy sector, high technology, and equipment supply. “Then the Russian Federation recognized the growing interdependence with Europe at that time as a positive factor and believed it reinforced overall security and reduced the likelihood of military conflicts.

However, the West generally agreed to this (confrontation) for the main goal, which is now quite clear: to destroy Russia as an independent factor on the world stage. It is understood that now they are realizing the illusory nature of this goal, but they cannot articulate this, turning 180 degrees before their voters without the risk of losing face and authority. But it is deeply rooted in them,” Lavrov said.

He emphasized that Russia must develop its sovereignty and self-sufficiency in everything necessary to defend its independence on the battlefield as well as in the everyday lives of citizens such as household appliances and vehicles.
