EU Confirms 12th Sanctions Package Against Russia: Details Revealed
The European Union has approved the 12th sanctions package against Russia, which also prohibits the importation of Russian diamonds. This is reported by RIA Novosti, referencing the press service of the EU Council.
It is noted that the new measures are aimed at the "most valuable sectors of the Russian economy" and are designed to complicate the circumvention of EU sanctions. "Due to Russia's ongoing aggressive war against Ukraine, the Council adopted the 12th package of economic and individual restrictions today," the statement said.
Thus, the EU has imposed a ban on the direct or indirect import, purchase, or transfer of diamonds from Russia, as well as on the import of liquefied propane, copper, and aluminum wire from Russia and new restrictions on the export of dual-use goods and technologies.
The new restrictions also stipulate that all EU member states are required to inform the European Commission about selling tankers to Russia.
