“In this case, we failed”: Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff

The Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Herzl Halevi, has stated that he personally takes responsibility for the deaths of three Israeli hostages. He promised to do everything possible to ensure that such an incident does not happen again. This information was reported by Kommersant.ru.

“The Israel Defense Forces, and I as its commander, bear responsibility for what has occurred, and we will do everything possible to prevent such incidents in the future. The soldiers and commanders of the Israel Defense Forces want nothing more than to save the hostages. In this case, we failed,” Halevi noted in a message shared on Telegram.

Earlier, the Israeli military reported that its soldiers mistakenly killed three Israeli hostages, whom they had confused with militants of Hamas, designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and the European Union.
