Death Toll in Gaza Strip Reaches 18,800
Since October 7, the number of fatalities resulting from Israeli attacks in the besieged Gaza Strip has increased by 13 in the past day, reaching 18,800. This was reported by the press service of the Palestinian enclave’s government in its updated statement regarding the 70-day conflict.
Among the deceased are 8,000 children and 6,200 women, along with 300 healthcare workers, 32 civil defense personnel, and 89 media staff. Additionally, the number of injured in Gaza has reached 51,000, with another 7,500 individuals' bodies trapped under rubble or along roadsides.
During the strikes, 126 government buildings were destroyed, 90 schools and universities were rendered inoperable, 282 schools and universities were partially damaged, and 112 mosques were completely destroyed. Moreover, 52,500 residential homes were demolished and another 200 partially damaged.
The healthcare infrastructure in Gaza is severely impacted, with 22 hospitals and 53 medical centers out of operation, and 102 ambulances damaged. Furthermore, an additional 327,000 people have contracted infectious diseases. Israel continues to restrict access to water, food, and electricity for patients, the injured, and medical staff, and has obstructed the transportation of the wounded to medical facilities, as stated in the report.
