Why Was There No Visit by Armenian Media to the Border on the Day of the Prisoner Exchange? - ‘Zhoghovurd’
‘Zhoghovurd’ newspaper reports. On December 13, at the Ghazakh-Ijevan border, Armenia and Azerbaijan carried out a prisoner exchange. Azerbaijan returned 32 Armenians, while Armenia repatriated 2 Azerbaijanis.
Following the process of returning the prisoners, there was intense discussion on the internet and among the public regarding the fact that only Azerbaijani media reported on the exchange at the border, while Armenian media were absent from the scene. As Azerbaijani state media extensively covered the event, Armenian media did not even have the opportunity to go to the border to report on this highly important and anticipated event for the public.
It created an unpleasant situation where the Armenian side learned specific details about the location and time of the prisoners' return from Azerbaijani media outlets. The newspaper has approached the Armenian government to clarify why a visit by Armenian media to the border was not organized. ‘It was deemed appropriate to organize it this way; in this case, the main focus is on the return of the prisoners. In this case, it was important to prioritize the organization of the return of the prisoners,’ said Armen Khachatryan, head of the Information and Public Relations Department.
