What did Zakharova accuse Armenia of?
Yerevan's various actions have made it impossible to fully implement the trilateral agreements, stated Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in her announcement today.
“We have already pointed out these points. The fact is that the Armenian side radically changed its position on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue during the summit held in Prague under the auspices of the EU in October 2022, recognizing its belonging to Azerbaijan and ‘forgetting’—at the urging of EU advisers—at least to mention the need to properly ensure the rights and security of the Armenian population in the region. This decision fundamentally changed the situation in the area where the Russian peacekeeping contingent is stationed.
The use of the Lachin corridor by the Armenian side to supply weapons to Nagorno-Karabakh, in violation of the trilateral agreements, has also had a negative impact, as has Yerevan's unwillingness to ensure the complete withdrawal of Armenian armed units from the region, which significantly contributed to the clashes in September of this year,” Zakharova noted.
