Soldiers Returned from Captivity Participate in Investigative Actions
Investigative actions have commenced at the Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee concerning the captives returned from Azerbaijan on December 13. The information was provided to Sputnik Armenia by the spokesperson of the Investigative Committee, Gor Abrahamyan.
“In the context of the criminal proceedings related to the individuals who have returned (initiated in connection with the 44-day war of 2020), they have been recognized as victims. Appropriate investigative actions have begun with them. These actions will be ongoing until the process is completed,” said Abrahamyan.
He noted that the criminal proceedings, in the context of which the investigative actions are being conducted, are being examined at the Military Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee. The spokesman emphasized that several other individuals are also part of ongoing criminal proceedings regarding abductions and captivities carried out by the adversary in various sections of the contact line after the war. Corresponding actions are also planned and will be executed with them.
It is worth recalling that on December 7, the office of the Prime Minister of Armenia and the office of the President of Azerbaijan issued a joint statement, which said that the Republic of Azerbaijan was releasing 32 Armenian servicemen, while Armenia would free 2 convicted Azerbaijani servicemen in return. The exchange of servicemen took place on December 13 at the Gazakh-Ijevan border. The names of the returned captives were announced by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
