Proposal to Allow Migrants at US Borders

After weeks of negotiations, the White House has proposed allowing border officials to place migrants at the US borders without checking documents, particularly during peak times. This was reported by The Washington Post, citing its sources. The information is relayed by gazeta.ru.

It is not clarified what specific numbers of border crossings are being considered. According to the publication, Republican Senator Thom Tillis, who participated in the discussions, suggested a maximum cap of three thousand people, while some Democrats mention five thousand.

The number of illegal crossings at the US-Mexico border has reached record levels this year. The issue of border security has even become an obstacle in discussions regarding new aid to Ukraine from Washington. Republicans in Congress have stated that they will not support funding for Kyiv until the administration changes its policies on protecting the US border.
