«Ilham is a Smart Man»: Lukashenko on Aliyev
The leader of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, shared plans to support the population of Nagorno-Karabakh during a personal meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. Lukashenko made this statement during a meeting with the heads of delegations participating in the meeting of security and intelligence officials from the CIS countries.
“Ilham is a smart man. We spoke in Dubai about the people in Nagorno-Karabakh... I said, ‘The people have left,’ and he responded, ‘We will not give anyone a hand; on the contrary, we want everyone to understand that we are a civilized country, and we will help at least on a daily basis. I know the situation in Azerbaijan. The authorities there are strong; they are capable of providing both support and assistance,’” Lukashenko stated.
