Documents That Significantly Change the Situation: Hraparak
Hraparak newspaper reports: "The first court hearing in the case of 'Prosecutor's Office Against Gagik Tsarukyan' is scheduled for January 17, 2024. The case has been assigned to Anti-Corruption Court Judge Lili Drmeyan. It is worth noting that the prosecutor's office is contesting the legality of Tsarukyan's entire estate within the framework of the law on 'Seizing Property of Illegal Origin.'
We have learned that the case consists of 45,000 pages, indicating it is a massive case. The prosecutor's office is specifically disputing the legality of more than 200 properties, while Tsarukyan and his family members are preparing to justify the legality of acquiring those properties in court.
According to our sources, proving the legality of this property, which dates back to the 1990s, has been deemed nearly impossible by Armenian law enforcement, leading them to believe that Tsarukyan would settle by conceding some portion of his assets to the state. However, it turns out that Gagik Tsarukyan's mother, Roza Tsarukyan, has preserved even old invoices from the 1980s in her chest, which brought millions in revenue to her son during the last years of the Soviet Union and the early years of independence, serving as the foundation for his future wealth. Their existence, it is said, significantly alters the situation."
