“Something was played over our heads, I don’t know.” Captured Vigen Euljekjyan has not returned to Armenia
Perhaps he is a diasporan, that's why he hasn’t returned. “Something was played over our heads, I don’t know,” said Maral Najaryan in a conversation with 24News, referring to Vigen Euljekjyan being on the list of captives but not returning.
Maral Najaryan was captured alongside Vigen Euljekjyan in November 2020, after the trilateral statement, while they were going to fetch their belongings from Berdzor and Shushi. She spent four months in captivity before being returned to Lebanon. Vigen Euljekjyan was sentenced to 20 years in prison by a Baku court.
Maral Najaryan noted that initially, Vigen’s name was on the list, but it was modified, and another captive was returned instead. When asked whether they plan to appeal to international organizations or the Armenian authorities to understand the reason for his non-return, Maral initially scoffed, asking, “Is there an Armenian authority?” Then she mentioned, “They will bring one reason.”
From Maral Najaryan, the news outlet learned that both Vigen Euljekjyan and his family are in a dire situation.
