Request Certification When Purchasing Meat and Poultry: SATM Urges Consumers

Meat is a food product with a high safety risk. To minimize these risks, the slaughter of animals in Armenia has been mandatory for the past three years.

The State Service for Food Safety (SATM) has issued a statement urging consumers to request a veterinary Form 5 certificate when purchasing meat and poultry.

This certificate confirms that the animal was slaughtered under proper sanitary and hygienic conditions and that the meat has undergone laboratory examination and is safe for consumption.

Consumers can identify the meat by comparing the mandatory stamp on it with the serial number on the Form 5 certificate. The numbers of the meat and the certificate must match.

Cut and refrigerated meat must be presented with an IDENTIFICATION LABEL that corresponds to the Form 5 certificate and the meat stamp.

Be vigilant and fight for your health; do not allow yourself to be sold meat of unknown quality and freshness resulting from backyard slaughter.

If you are offered meat of uncertain origin in the marketplace, call the Armenian Food Safety Inspection Body at the free hotline 118 and report it, providing the address of the selling point.

Protecting public health is a top priority.
