Car Importers Should Pay 5000 Dram Daily for Your Poor Service, Says Tadevos Avetisyan
You are systematically complicating and making life harder for car importers. This was stated today in the National Assembly by Tadevos Avetisyan, a member of the "Armenia" parliamentary faction, during the discussion of the draft amendments to the law on state duties.
"The price for keeping your car parked in your territory for one day is 1600 dram, which you are turning into 5000 dram. This issue will not be resolved; on the contrary, it will become deeper and more serious, because if a person has the right to leave the car there for four months, raising this fee will not solve the problem. Second, you mentioned that yes, the wet is mixed with the dry. There are objective issues, when a person, let's say, for various objective reasons needs to leave the cars with you for a few days to check the VIN code. Next, long queues are forming with you, and you are unable to serve in a timely manner. In other words, you are not doing your job well; the car importer should pay 5000 dram daily for your poor service until your queues are regulated," stated the MP.
The Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee noted that they are currently able to serve 500 cars at the customs checkpoint in Gyumri. "We are serving those cars; there are no queues. No one has been waiting there for the next day," he elaborated.
In response, Tadevos Avetisyan said he had seen those queues with his own eyes. "If there are no queues, everything is fine, the state is receiving tax of 1600 dram, then why are you raising it to solve what problem? Where is there a daily parking fee of 1600 dram, especially in that area of Gyumri, where you think people leave their cars there for parking?" Avetisyan countered.
He suggested that instead of a one-day free parking policy, there should be at least a 5-7 day grace period.
