US Plans to Convince Russia to Enter Peace Talks by End of 2024

The United States aims to persuade Russia to agree to peace negotiations regarding Ukraine on terms favorable to Kyiv by the end of 2024. This statement was made by Jonathan Feiner, the deputy assistant to the U.S. President for National Security Affairs.

According to Feiner, the U.S. wants to present Russia with a choice. He stated that the conditions for peace should be acceptable to Ukraine in terms of sovereignty and territorial integrity. Feiner noted that it is either this option and negotiations, or Russia will have to face a "stronger Ukraine, backed by a more robust industrial base in the U.S. and Europe, which could resume attacks again."

Feiner emphasized that "this is a very complex strategic decision," and he does not know what ultimately the Kremlin will decide.
