Gagik Surenyan: Significant Warming Has Occurred in December Since 1988, but No Earthquake Recorded

On December 7, 1988, temperatures were notably warm, reaching +13 to +15 degrees Celsius in Yerevan and about +8 to +10 degrees Celsius in Gyumri. This was highlighted by Gagik Surenyan, the deputy director of the Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center, in a post on his Facebook page.

He mentioned, "This circumstance contributes to the fear that when winter temperatures rise sharply, people think an earthquake will occur. However, scientific studies have shown that atmospheric phenomena are not related to geological events; it's merely a coincidence. Since 1988, there have been much more significant warm spells in December, but no earthquakes have been recorded."
