Armenia as a Full Participant in the International ‘North-South’ Corridor: Safaryan Discusses Opportunities
Armenia can become a full-fledged participant in the ‘North-South’ international transport corridor (ITC) and other logistic projects. This was stated by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, Mnatsakan Safaryan, during the expert conference titled “New Realities and the Crossroads of Peace.”
“The Government of Armenia is prioritizing collaboration within the framework of regional and global initiatives such as the ‘North-South’ international transport corridor, the ‘Persian Gulf-Black Sea’ ITC, and the Iran-India initiative on the development of Chabahar port. We are confident that the Armenian transport network possesses great potential to support these projects,” noted Safaryan.
He also highlighted that Armenia is making efforts towards the development of infrastructure under the initiative to implement the ‘North-South’ highway project. This project will not only allow Armenia to increase logistic capacities but also to become a full participant in the ‘North-South’ ITC and other initiatives.
Safaryan also stated that Armenia could serve as a bridge between India, Iran, and EAEU countries.
