Azerbaijan Destroys Armenian Heritage in Occupied Artsakh: CHW Sounds Alarm on Dangers

Caucasus Heritage Watch (CHW) warns of new threats to cultural heritage in Artsakh. The report highlights the irreversible damage to Armenian sites due to Azerbaijani actions in occupied Shushi, with historical Armenian cemeteries remaining in a vulnerable state (four recently damaged and three more currently at risk).

"The number of endangered sites and instances of damage continues to increase inescapably, despite the international court's ruling in December 2021. We are now faced with a terrifying prospect that could encompass the entirety of Armenian heritage in Nagorno-Karabakh, which includes approximately 500 historical monasteries, churches, and cemeteries," the CHW report states.
