Video: At least 12 people missing in Indonesia due to heavy rains and subsequent landslides
Heavy rain on the Indonesian island of Sumatra has caused flooding and landslides. As a result, at least 12 people are reported missing, officials have stated. The most affected area is the Simanggulampe village in North Sumatra province, according to Budiono, head of the local search and rescue agency. Several individuals have been buried alive under tons of mud.
However, providing assistance is complicated by blocked roads covered in mud, debris, and large boulders. Rescue teams continue their search for the missing persons. At least 12 houses, a church, a school, and a hotel have been damaged, displacing approximately 50 families.
