VIDEO: Police Check Suspicious Items of Passengers in the Metro

The Yerevan Metro reported that passenger safety is ensured by the police from the Department of Security of the Yerevan Metro named after Karen Demirchyan.

“Yesterday, from early morning, the police of the Metro Security Department were conducting enhanced duty at the entrances of all metro stations to ensure the safety of every citizen entering the metro. During the regularly conducted enhanced duty, they checked passengers' large or suspicious-looking items using metal detectors.

The enhanced service that lasted an entire day yielded results. Police apprehended a young man on suspicion of holding and using narcotics. During a personal search, they discovered about 2 grams of a greenish substance wrapped in paper.

When encountering the enhanced service conducted by the Metro Security Department from time to time, do not be alarmed; this is a regular measure aimed at public safety,” the statement said.
