How Can Citizens Fasten Seatbelts If Police Do Not? - Ioannisyan
Police do not fasten their seatbelts, so how can citizens be expected to? This was stated by Daniel Ioannisyan, program coordinator of the Yerevan-based NGO, during a public discussion on the topic 'The Role of the Police in Ensuring Road Traffic Safety.'
"It is difficult to expect citizens to buckle up if the police do not. Legislation suggests that police may not be required to fasten their seatbelts in residential areas, but this does not mean they should never do so. However, they are expected to buckle up outside residential areas," said Ioannisyan.
He posed a question to everyone: "When was the last time you saw a police officer wearing a seatbelt?" and answered himself, saying, "They hardly ever wear seatbelts; they (referring to police officers) consider it unnecessary."
Today, a public discussion was held on the topic 'The Role of the Police in Ensuring Road Traffic Safety,' featuring speakers such as MP Sisak Gabrielyan, MP Arsen Torosyan, Chief of the Patrol Service Colonel Arthur Khudinyan, civic activist Artak Gaboyan, and program coordinator Daniel Ioannisyan.
