Every Day I Say I Won't Call the Municipality to See When They Will Fix It: A Member of Parliament on the Jrvaz Road

The Jrvaz road was recently asphalted, but for the last 10 days, a hole has been dug, and the pit still remains. This was stated by SISAK GABRIELYAN, a member of the Civil Contract faction of the National Assembly, during a public discussion on 'The Role of the Police in Ensuring Road Traffic Safety.'

"Every day I see that the Jrvaz road has been recently asphalted, but they have been digging a hole for 10 days, and the pit is still there. I say every day that I won’t call the municipality to see when they will fix it. It’s a pity that the entire road from Masiv to Jrvaz was constructed, and now they’ve come to dig a hole and there are no road signs. And now I, as a citizen, read in the news that if I don’t wear my seatbelt, the Police will fine me, if I don’t remove the tint from the car windows, they will fine me, but I come and see that this road is in this condition. From a citizen’s perspective, we are all state people, and they say that a state person does what he should do, but I do what I must. This is objective," Gabrielian detailed.

According to him, the Police have almost no effect on mitigating road traffic accidents. "We constantly blame the Police, but the Police have almost zero effect and functionality in mitigating road traffic accidents," he said.

Gabrielian stated that in many matters, the problem belongs to the community. "The roads are not marked, which is not the Police’s issue; the traffic lights are not working, which is not the Police’s issue; the roads are not properly equipped, which is not the Police’s issue; snow removal work has not been done, which is not the Police's issue, because this is a community problem," he emphasized.

It should be noted that the speakers at the discussion included National Assembly member Sisak Gabrielian, National Assembly member Arsen Torosyan, the Chief of Patrol Service, Colonel Arthur Khudinyan, civil activist Artak Gaboyan, and Daniel Ioannisyan, program coordinator of the Integrated Community Management (ICM).
