VIDEO: Ruben Vardanyan May Be Facing Assassination in Baku, Warns Lapshin
Azerbaijan's government portal Day.az has published an article claiming that Ruben Vardanyan is allegedly suffering from liver cirrhosis. This information was relayed by blogger Alexander Lapshin.
According to Lapshin, Vardanyan has never had liver cirrhosis, and the Azerbaijanis justify their statements by claiming that they have found Vardanyan's wine cellar in Stepanakert.
He noted that a week before an assassination attempt against him in Baku, Azerbaijani media were disseminating false information that his child was ill, suggesting that he was experiencing a 'mental disorder'. After the attack, it was reported that Lapshin had attempted suicide.
The blogger recounts that following the spread of fake news by Azerbaijani media, he was attacked and beaten by four Muslim Azerbaijanis, leaving him in a semi-conscious state.
Lapshin warns that they may be applying the same logic to Ruben Vardanyan now. He cautions that Vardanyan could be preparing for assassination, and that these publications are meant to assert that he is ill and subsequently has died from his condition.
"I am not claiming that they are preparing to kill him in a week, as they were with me, but one must take these statements seriously because everything can end sadly," states Alexander Lapshin.
