Where Will the 11 Million Euros Granted to Armenia by the EU Go?
The European Union will allocate 11 million euros to Armenia for judicial sector reforms. The project has been approved in a Government meeting.
The agreement signed between Armenia and the European Commission provides for financial support from the EU amounting to 9 million euros. An additional 2 million euros will be allocated for supplementary support for the project.
The program aims to align the governance mechanisms in the judicial sector (including rule of law for all, accountability mechanisms, and independence) with European standards, including those related to courts, prosecutor's offices, and investigative bodies. It also focuses on aligning the criminal justice system with European standards, particularly concerning gender issues and the compliance of anti-corruption institutions with international standards.
Additionally, the establishment of an independent and impartial arbitration center is planned. The implementation period for the project is set for 4 years.
