LGBT Movement Banned in Russia
The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation has recognized the international LGBT public movement as an extremist organization and has banned it in Russia. This was reported by a correspondent from РИА Новости.
“The requests must be satisfied; the international LGBT public movement must be recognized as an extremist organization and its activities must be banned in Russia,” stated the judge. He added that the decision must be “implemented immediately.”
As clarified by the court's press service, only a representative from the Ministry of Justice was present at the hearing, and there was no representative for the accused in court. The meeting was held behind closed doors, lasted more than four hours, and the case materials consisted of over 20 volumes.
