Farmers in South Korea's capital have clashed with police during a protest against a ban on dog meat. This was reported by various Telegram channels.

The unusual rally, attended by around 200 farmers who breed dogs for human consumption, took place in front of the presidential office, where they demanded the government abandon the time-honored practice of consuming dog meat.

Specialist animal breeders started to fight with police, and soon after began to erect barricades. Three individuals attacking law enforcement were taken into custody.

Several dozen farmers arrived in trucks, intending to release dogs in the square, but were stopped by the police. They continued to threaten to release two million dogs onto the streets of Seoul.

The protests stemmed from a proposed legislation that would prohibit the use of dog meat as food, threatening the demand for this specific sector.
