Advisor to the President of Artsakh Comments on Samvel Babayan's Statements
The President of Artsakh, Samvel Shahramanyan, is currently not engaged in negotiations with representatives from Azerbaijan. If there were negotiations, the Presidential Administration of Artsakh would issue a corresponding statement, as Shahramanyan has nothing to hide from the public.
This was stated by Vladimir Grigoryan, an advisor to the President of Artsakh, in an interview with Tert.am, while commenting on the statement made by the former Secretary of the Security Council of Artsakh, Samvel Babayan, claiming that Samvel Shahramanyan is negotiating with Baku and calls there daily.
“It would be appropriate to address this issue to Samvel Babayan, let him clarify these matters, we are also interested in what information he has, regarding Shahramanyan supposedly being in constant contact with Baku,” he said.
The advisor to the President of Artsakh did not rule out that Shahramanyan may have communications with the Azerbaijani side on technical issues, particularly concerning the captives being held in Baku.
“MP Davit Galstyan has also mentioned that former presidents, apart from their family members, are in contact with Shahramanyan. This implies certain mediated efforts. If the former presidents of Artsakh are connecting or if our other citizens who are currently captured are establishing some sort of contact, then there is a specific communication happening. We also have the issue of the missing persons, and Shahramanyan is actively engaged with the relevant authorities on this matter,” Grigoryan noted.
He also emphasized that Shahramanyan is not in contact with Baku, but with the political-military leadership and other citizens being held there. “To be in contact with Baku, we need to understand the context in which this is occurring. Shahramanyan is trying to facilitate communication between those held in Baku and their relatives, ensuring that it occurs with certain sensitivity,” he added.
