I Tried to Understand Who These People Are, Who Care So Much and Don’t Want to Live Next to Azerbaijanis: Alen Simonyan
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, made a post on his Telegram channel addressing his statements from the previous day.
“I read the comments from a media outlet under the section of my press briefing where I stated that a time will come when Armenians and Azerbaijanis will live next to each other. It’s clear that this is not new information, and there is no revelation in the notion that the best option for the coexistence of two neighboring states is to live peacefully with each other and engage in trade. There are numerous examples of peaceful living after long, bloody wars, and there is simply no alternative to it.
But, come and see, the comments were about something else. There was nothing meaningful, just insults and emotional outbursts. I tried to understand who these people are, who care so much and don’t want to live next to Azerbaijanis, and I found nothing surprising. If we set aside the cursing young mothers and the ladies engaged in politics with their makeup and tattoos, it turns out that most of them live in Russia. For example, someone from the city of Stavropol does not want Armenians to live alongside Azerbaijanis, and although they write in Russian letters, but in their minds, in Armenian, often even their superior command of Russian and Armenian does not help fully understand what that young man intended to say.
A small portion also resides in the USA, and naturally, they also don’t want to live next to Azerbaijanis and find my statement unacceptable. There is another interesting type that stands out with the luxury of their curses, and I can confidently say that the more luxurious the curses are, the further they live from Armenia, and they disappear quickly when you try to reach out and understand what has angered that patriotic young Armenian living in Stavropol, who posts pictures of Jesus and weapons on their page and has recorded a video of a car speedometer. But do not think that I am complaining or feeling hurt; it is clear that a public figure, a politician can and should be criticized, especially in our times when even women shining with parades of their grandchildren and hairstyles do not shy away from giving and hearing the last of curses. On the contrary, let them learn, listen, and realize that I will do everything to ensure peace, so they can take their families and finally return to live in Armenia without fear of anything,” wrote the Speaker of the National Assembly.
Simonyan specifically mentioned yesterday that recent events show that in the near future it will be impossible for Armenians to return to Stepanakert, Shusha, or Baku, and those places that have historically been Armenian, while emphasizing that a time will come, and it will happen naturally, when Armenians and Azerbaijanis need to live next to each other and engage in trade.
