Beaches in France to Be Considered No-Smoking Zones

France has announced a smoking ban on beaches as part of a larger campaign against smoking. By the first half of 2024, smoking will also be prohibited near schools and in green spaces as part of a four-year 'anti-smoking program'.

Currently, France has 7,200 smoke-free zones, including forested areas in the south of the country that are at high risk of wildfires. Authorities have not yet detailed how the ban will be enforced or whether fines will be imposed on violators.
